Scuba Diving in Bahamas
As we know, the Bahamas consist of around 700 islands with almost two thousand coral cays and more than seven hundred miles of reef, from the Long Island to the Island of Andros. There are dozens of dive resorts providing you with world-class scuba diving. The most famous scuba diving spots in the Bahamas are - the Berry Islands, Bimini, Abacus, Freeport and San Salvador. Five percent of the total coral on earth, is found in waters of the Bahamas. Hence, scuba diving here means that one can gain first hand access to the healthy coral reef and view the abundance of marine life. You can also experience the longest system of caverns here, in the waters of Bahamas. At the Lucayan National Park of the Grand Bahamas Island, you can see the great network of the underwater caves. This also makes Bahamas the top vacation spot among the tourists.

Snorkeling the Sapona
Bahamas has got the clearest of the worlds' waters and hence the visibility of about two hundred feet is quite possible here. The water is so clear, even at the average depths of fifty feet, you can see the bottom and the coral reefs from the surface itself, without even having to dive! All you have to do is just float, along with the fins, mask and a sunscreen!

The most famous Bahamanian snorkeling spot, is the concrete boat named 'the Sapona'. This shipwreck belongs to the 'World War one' era. It is just fifteen feet below the water surface, it isn't totally submerged. Nonetheless, it provides an awesome sight against the blue sky. The snorkelers can swim around the wrecks and experience 'diving' without much polished skills. Another snorkeling spot is off the Bimini shore. The brain corals protrude here, at the time of low tide and the spot is called the 'turtle rock'. The 'turtle rock' ranges from twelve feet to thirty five feet. Both these places provide you with an excellent opportunity of snorkeling.

Shopping in the Freetown
If you are looking out for duty-free shopping, then Freetown, on the Grand Bahamas Island, is the ideal shopping spot for you. It was converted into a commerce zone, in the year 1950. The 'Port Lucaya bazaar' and the 'International bazaar', near Freetown, is where you can indulge in some duty free and quality shopping. Duty free liquor is also available here at some spots. The 'Straw market' is a place where you can get a variety of hats, bags and mats made from sisal and palm leaves. One can also find clothing, baseball caps, shot glasses and jewelry.

The Bahamas is situated only fifty miles away from the coast of Florida, with each Bahamanian island having its own peculiar character. It is not practically possible to stop and visit each and every island. It is not important how many days you stay here, but what matters is, how many things you get to explore during your tour. So, when are you visiting this paradise?
