    Take advantage of Amtrak's bus services. Amtrak offers bus service from the San Diego station to terminals at both Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. Leaving Los Angeles on the earliest train and using the bus service could get you to either location by 11:00 a.m.

    Know about available discounts when traveling with children. Children under the age of 2 ride for free, and children ages 2 to 15 travel for half price with an adult. There is an AAA discount for children as well.

    Know about other Amtrak discounts. Active military personnel as well as veterans are eligible for discounts, as are seniors and members of the National Association of Rail Passengers.
