Zoom from the chic streets of Paris, France, to Barcelona, Spain, in a matter of hours to experience ancient Spanish cathedrals, museums and art. One of the longer train trips in Europe, this journey can take up to 12 hours to complete, so an overnight train is a great idea if you don't mind sleeping most of the way.

Prepare for Your Train Travel From Paris to Barcelona

    Find Barcelona's train station in the west part of the city, close to the center and lots of commerce and shopping.

    Know that inside Barcelona's train station, the ticket counters run the middle of the rectangular building, with shops and eateries on either side.

    Take the escalators down to board your train from Barcelona's ticket counter.

Choose the Right Ticket to Book Between Paris and Barcelona

    Take the Elipsos trains (also called "Trainhotels") to Barcelona from Paris. On these luxurious cars, you will find Luxury/Grand Class, Business/Standard Class and Tourist Class compartments, as well as some traditional train seating.

    Book a Luxury/Grand Class ticket to enjoy a private sleeping compartment with 1 or 2 real beds, a shower, sink and toilet. You will also have a complimentary dinner and breakfast included for the price of your fare.

    Expect Standard/Business Class travel tickets to come with a private compartment with 1 or 2 beds, a sink and breakfast.

    Know that Tourist Class tickets include a 4-bunk setup with a sink and food for purchase. There are also super-reclining seats to be purchased if you don't want to sleep in a bed.
