How to Install the Garmin Travel Guide for Europe

Mobile GPS units are a modern convenience that have changed the way people travel. In addition to maps and routes, one increasingly common use is the electronic travel guide. Once loaded onto a GPS, these guides display important information about an area. The details can include contact numbers for restaurants and hotels, tourist information and popular scenic routes. Shopping information is also included, along with many expert reviews and recommendations that make foreign travel much more convenient. Use this general guide to install the Europe travel guide onto a Garmin GPS.

Instructions

Installing the Travel Guide

    1

Purchase the Garmin Europe Travel Guide directly from the Garmin website, or from another retailer. The guide software comes as a Secure Digital (SD) memory card.

    2

Turn on your Garmin GPS device and wait for it to load completely. When the menu screen appears, insert the SD memory card into the card slot on the side of the device.

    3

Choose "Install" once the prompt to load the software appears. This will copy the guide onto the internal memory of the GPS.

    4

Launch the newly installed program from the main menu. Depending on your GPS model, this may be listed under "Add Ons." The Europe guide will open for use.
