How to Install Satellite in a Travel Trailer

Installing a satellite in your travel trailer is the ideal and most convenient way to ensure that you are in touch with the news and favorite TV programs while on the go. You can convert a satellite meant for home use or buy a special satellite designed for travel trailers.

Instructions

    1

Select the type of satellite dish which is most compatible with your trailer. Ideally, choose a smaller dish or one that is in the shape of a dome as it is less likely to fall off and become damaged while your trailer is moving.

You may also choose to convert your home use satellite by replacing the satellite holding system with a toolbox that is available in stores.

    2

Check to see whether your satellite has a ready made holder attached to it or whether you need to purchase a separate one.

If it is attached, simply drill holes in the roof or other specified location and attach it using heavy duty screws. If it is separate, purchase a suitable holder and attach it to the roof or other location such as the window or wall in the same way.

    3

Guide the satellite's cables inside your travel trailer. You may have a pre-set wire inside your trailer; if you do not, drill small holes into the roof, wall, or wherever you have placed your satellite and push your cables through those holes into the trailer.

    4

Connect the cable wires to the receiver box of your satellite server. Attach the receiver's wire to the input box of your trailer's television.

    5

Turn your television on to see whether you are receiving a clear and static free transmission and whether your television is tuned to your satellite's service.
