How to Make Curtains for Your Travel Trailer

If you love to travel, a travel trailer can be your home away from home. Just like any other type of home, your travel trailer may need some sprucing up from time to time. One way to make your travel trailer feel more comfortable is to hang up some stylish curtains. The right curtains can really improve the entire look of any room. Instead of purchasing factory-made curtains, though, consider making your own. When you make your own curtains, you have more of a fabric and style selection.

Instructions

    1

Measure the length and the width of your travel trailer's windows. This helps you avoid curtains that are too large or too small.

    2

Cut your fabric twice the width and 4 inches taller than your window. For example, if your window is 24 inches tall by 30 inches wide, cut your curtain fabric at 28 inches in height and 60 inches wide. Fold your curtain fabric in half widthwise and cut the center line of the fabric out. When you unfold the fabric, you should have two pieces the width of the window.

    3

Lay the curtain fabric on a flat surface. Place the fabric so the face of the design is facing away from you. Fold the bottom edge of the fabric up by 1/2 inch. Pin the fabric in place and sew it to fortify it. Complete this step with both the right and the left side of the curtain. This creates an edge that will not unravel over time.

    4

Fold down the top side by a 1/4 inch. Sew it into place to make a finished edge. Fold down the top edge one more time by 1 1/2 inches. Pin it into place, and sew it to secure it. This will create a small loop at the top of the curtain where your curtain rod can fit.

    5

Slip the curtain onto the curtain rod. Hang the rod on the wall and enjoy your new and stylish curtains.
