How to Make a Good Travel Brochure

Travel brochures play an important role in the success of a travel company, since with the help of these brochures it can promote its services and reach potential customers more easily. Dmitri Ioannides and Keith G. Debbage in their book, "The Economic Geography of Tourist Industry," say "The tour operators most important marketing tool is the travel brochure, which acts as a surrogate for the actual product on sale. In case of mass tourism, where the travelers are most often than not concerned about holiday type than actual destination, the brochure plays an especially important role." These brochures inform tourists about favorite spots like amusement parks, famous churches and coastlines, etc. These brochures can be expensive, but by using creativity a tour operator can create an attractive brochure for his company at a reasonable cost.

Instructions

    1

Do extensive research about the target market of your company before you begin work on the travel brochure. For example, find the cultural curiosity of your target market, their favorite food items and their interests. This research will guide you to make the brochure more informative for the targeted tourists. A good brochure should influence the tourists and compel them to visit your advertised destination. The first page should be striking as it creates the first impression of the entire brochure.

    2

Determine the purpose of your brochure and explain it briefly in your brochure. For example, the purpose of your brochure could be to create awareness about scenic tourist spots that would otherwise be unvisited by non-local tourists or it can give information about a particular city. Remember your main goal is to finalize a sale through your brochure.

    3

Make bold headlines for your brochure, as your target audience will not necessarily read each word. Instead, most individuals would rather quickly skim through the brochure. Headlines and highlights will make your brochure attractive and eye-catching.

    4

Choose attractive photographs of the travel destination for the travel brochure. Add pictures of different activities that tourists can enjoy. Do not forget to include pictures of activities for all ages. For example, if the tourist spot has water sports, such as swimming for kids and scuba diving for adults, one must make sure to include them in the brochure. Make it colorful by adding photographs of scenery like pictures of mountains, hills and waterfalls to make it more attractive.

    5

List the popular destinations tourists will be interested in visiting. Include comprehensive information about these favorite spots. For example, some people might be interested in hiking while others would love to take a sunbath on the beach. Make sure to provide information about reaching that particular area whether it is by road or by an airplane.

    6

Provide a detailed map of the destination, its geographical location, population characteristics, climatic conditions and the language. This will make the brochure informative and help a person prepare for his destination in advance. For example, information regarding the weather will assist a person in deciding what clothes to take.

    7

Include contact information in your travel brochure. Mobile contacts as well as landlines should be provided to facilitate immediate contact. Make sure contact details are easy to follow and also include e-mail addresses and websites of your company.
