Traveling with a skateboard is easy enough with a few tips and special baggage. Determine whether you want to keep the skateboard with you or stow it. Airlines have policies that differ, so it pays to check with the airlines before deciding whether or not to bring a skateboard in carry-on luggage.

Instructions

    1

Carry the skateboard in a skateboard backpack. This kind of backpack is made especially for transporting skateboards strapped to a backpack. If you are traveling on an airplane, contact the airline to see if skateboards are allowed as carry on luggage. You may be required to stow it with the crew before boarding.

    2

Pack the skateboard in a suitcase. Cover the skateboard with a kitchen garbage bag to prevent the wheels from coming in contact with clothing. Pack clothing around the skateboard to protect it.

    3

Consider a skateboard case for travel. Skateboard cases are hard-shelled cases with wheels. The cases can be shipped ahead or stowed in the baggage section of an airplane, train or bus.

    4

Place the skateboard in a sturdy, cardboard box and seal with packing tape. The box can be shipped ahead or stowed in the baggage area of an airplane, train or bus.

    5

Bring extra equipment to replace wheels and bearings.
