Apply for passport. Getting a passport is the most important part of traveling outside the U.S. and entering another country. If you don't have passport, you stand no chance of getting past customs when you get ready to travel outside the U.S. Getting a passport involves a few steps including: getting and filling out the government forms required, proving you are a natural resident of the U.S., identifying yourself and most important of all preparing to pay the government the fees of getting a passport (currently $100 for adults and $85 for kids under 16).

Get vaccinated. Before visiting most countries, the U.S. will require a set of vaccinations (some free and some are not) before you leave the country to visit another. Not getting your travel vaccines can easily cause you to get a disease in another country thus easily causing an epidemic. It is recommended that you ask about the vaccinations required before you travel overseas to ensure that you are properly prepared before trying to travel overseas.

Raise enough money for travel. Especially when traveling as a group, lots of money is required for travel expenses (even if you're traveling alone). You can raise enough money to travel by conducting any number of fundraisers or even by working and saving it up (the right fundraiser is the way to go). It is recommended that you start saving for travel at least a year in advance to ensure you have enough money for plane tickets, living arrangements, shopping and more instead of waiting until the very last minute.
