How to Replace Travel Trailer Cushions

When the old cushions in your travel trailer have seen better days, you can freshen the look of the whole trailer by replacing them with new ones. If you've had the trailer for a while, you're likely to need some updating in the colors, patterns and fabrics of the interior anyway. By simply putting in some new cushions, the whole inside of the travel trailer will feel much more contemporary.

Instructions

    1

Take a picture of the current configuration of cushions, in case you forget later what size cushion went where.

    2

Pull off the cushions and measure their width, length and height. Make a note of the dimensions. Measure every cushion, as some may be slightly different sizes. You also can use a large sheet of paper to trace a template of the outside of the cushion, so you know what the shape should be. When you're done measuring and tracing, place the cushions back in place for now.

    3

Order replacement foam from an upholsterer or RV parts store. Provide the dimensions of each individual cushion.

    4

Sew new cushions with upholstery fabric, paying heed to the individual dimensions of each cushion. Your fabric will need to be slightly larger than the cushion itself. Most cushions come with some type of zipper on the back side for easy installation and cleaning.

If you're not comfortable sewing covers with thick upholstery fabric, order cushion fabric from an upholsterer or RV parts supplier. You often can order the replacement fabric at the same place where you ordered the cushion foam, but you may be more limited in the fabrics you can choose.

    5

Pull off your old cushions and replace them with the new ones.
