How to Stop Travel Trailer Interior Window Sweats

Because RVs and camper travel trailers are small, enclosed spaces, a common problem is window sweating. This is caused by condensation within the camping cabin and the body heat from the people inside. Reducing or even preventing window condensation altogether is done in a two-fold way. First, treat the windows with an anti-fog cleanser, and vent the cabin an the outing.

Instructions

    1

Wipe down the windows with a dry rag to get any dust or dirt off the glass. Wipe down panes and gutters to get all gunk out. Wash the windows with a sponge and warm soapy water and let them dry.

    2

Spray the windows with an anti-fog cleanser and wipe it into the glass with a dry rag. Let the cleaner dry on the windows and add a gel pack to the gutters or between panes on each window. These packs absorb moisture and help prevent the condensation that causes window sweats.

    3

Cook with the stove and kitchen vents open. Even if the outside air is cold, keep the vents open during cooking, especially if you boil water. This allows moist air to circulate out of the camping cabin, reducing window sweats.

    4

Crack the windows an inch to 1/2 inch at night or when the camping cabin is full of people and the doors are closed. Moisture accumulates in the cabin from the people's respiration and from the emission of water vapor in the form of sweat.

    5

Drain any hot water from the sinks immediately after use. Do not let any hot water stay in a sink or drain any longer than necessary.
