Most of us have the habit of leaving the packing for a vacation for the last day. This often can lead to last minute panic. There is a possibility, that we forget certain things, we may need for the vacation. This is when the packing list for vacation comes handy. If you are able to do all your packing for a vacation successfully, you will have a successful vacation. It is always good to make the vacation packing list once, you have decided, that you are going to take a vacation. There is a possibility, that you need to buy a clothing item or other such stuff for the vacation. From the list, you can decide all that you need for a vacation. Let's now see what to pack for a vacation.
General Vacation Packing Checklist
When you are packing for a trip, there are certain items, which are required irrespective of the genders of the picnickers. Therefore, we will first see the items, which you can pack as combine items for you and your partner.
- Charger for your phone as well as your partner's phone. If you can use the same chargers for both the phones, then carry just any one of the chargers, so that you do not have to take care of two.
- Camera is one of the important items on the vacation packing list. You will have to ensure that the camera has the memory card, batteries, battery charger, etc. If you are going to carry a video camera, the same is applicable for it as well. Pack both the cameras in different bags. Just in case one of your luggage bags does not arrive on time, you will at least have one of the cameras with you. In case you are taking a vacation, which involves you spending a lot of time under water, then you will have to carry an underwater camera with you.
- If you are traveling to a foreign country, then make sure you carry a dictionary, phrase book, maps in English, etc. along with you. These will be of help to you, if you are stuck and want to ask for directions.
- Medicines should also be carried along with a first aid box. An antibiotic cream, band aids, pain relievers, prescription medicines, etc. should be carried along. There are chances, that a particular drug may not be available in the state or country you are visiting.
- Along with medicines, do make sure you carry a copy of your medical history. It will prove to be helpful in case of any medical emergency. Along with the copy of your medical history, do carry your vaccination certificates.

- Cash
- Credit and/or Debit card or Traveler's checks
- Copy of Vacation Packing List
- Driver's license (International driver's license, if traveling to a foreign country)
- Emergency numbers (Embassy address and phone number, while traveling to a foreign country.
- Flight tickets or Confirmation Number
- Itinerary
- Journal and pen to make note of the important happenings throughout the day
- Medical History document, along with the relevant vaccination documents and copies of prescriptions
- Passport and Visa
- Pre-paid phone card
- Snail mail and e-mail addresses
- Travel Maps and directions
- Travel insurance documents
- Bathing suit
- Lingerie
- Socks
- Comb and/or Hair brush and hair styling tools and accessories
- Deodorant
- Jewelry and accessories if required
- Nightdress
- Slippers
- Makeup; Do not forget the makeup remover.
- Swimming wear, if you are going for a beach vacation.
- A beach vacation packing list or any vacation packing list for that matter should have skin care products
- Appropriate clothing
- Appropriate Footwear
- Shampoo, conditioner and hair styling products if you use them
- Sweater or warm clothing, if you are traveling during winters
- Sunglasses
- Sanitary items
- Toothbrush, mouth wash
- Wide-brimmed hat if you are traveling during summer
- Raincoats and/or umbrellas
- Belt, ties and tie pins
- Casual shirts, if it is a business cum pleasure trip. Do not forget your suit, if it is business cum pleasure trip.
