When we talk about Europe, don't we automatically start thinking about Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and/or London? However, there are many other fabulous cities in Europe you can travel to. Perhaps you may be planning a family vacation or a romantic getaway and need help deciding which places are suitable. You may have read or seen it on television, about the magnificent continent which is filled with excitement, adventure, historical sites, intriguing cultures and excellent food and drink. So, how can you decide which can be the top European destinations to visit?

It would be difficult to narrow down our top destinations down to ten, as there are 48 countries to choose from. Although, if we go through the list of countries, we can definitely choose at least finalize on few major cities and/or countries.

In order to make your list, you need to focus on what it is that you want out of your vacation. Every country has some unique and beautiful vacation spots to offer its visitors. With magnificent capital cities and picturesque villages, you just can't go wrong, no matter which place you choose. Here are our top European vacation destinations.

Paris
Paris is a city everybody loves to love. Obviously, it will definitely be at the very top of our list. Known as the city of love, Paris is the largest city in France and gets the highest number of tourists each year. The top, most obvious spots to visit in Paris are the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Muse du Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe. Apart from these historical and more popular locations, you can also satisfy yourself while strolling through Saint-Germain-des-Pres. This district is full of trendy restaurants and boutiques where everyone in the family can find something to do. Don't forget to pass this opportunity to visit the Catacombs, an underground tombs network which are stacked with skeletons of the past Parisians like bricks. Just take one step into Paris and let it sedate you in its beauty.

Venice
Although there are many beautiful cities in Italy, Venice takes the cake with its stunning bridges and canals all around. This Italian oasis can be explored by foot or through an authentic and romantic gondola ride. Understanding the local life in Venice and enjoying brilliant, savory meals in the company of your family and/or friends is what Italy is all about. London
Personally, I think that London is one of the most fantastic places to discover. Which is why we have included this brilliant city of England. Anything you imagine or wish to do, you can do so in this city. Popular and always-fun places to visit in London are the Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Madame Tussauds wax museum, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market (top shopping spot), Convent Garden, Kensington, the London Eye, the Trocadero (for video games and arcade), and so much more. Plus, you can take a train or airplane ride to visit Ireland, Scotland, or Wales.

Barcelona
When you wish to enjoy a mixture of European and Mediterranean influences on your Europe vacation, how can we forget to mention Barcelona? One of the most stylish and modern cities in Spain is always blazing with parties all year round. Walk through Barcelona's historical development, beginning from the Barri Gotic, which is a medieval city center full of old cathedrals, cafes and bars. Rome

Prague
The biggest reason for tourist to folk to the city of Prague, the capital and largest city of Czech Republic, is to walk through its cobblestone streets. These unbelievably beautiful streets are lined with castles, churches, and buildings, which kind of look like they are picked out of a Brothers Grimm book. The main attractions of this city are located close to one another and can be covered by foot. The Old Town Square, the Tyn Church, Charles Bridge on the Vltava River, Prague Castle, and towns like Hradcany and Mala Strana are not to be missed. You can also enjoy Prague's nightlife by taking a quick subway to Staromestsk station.

Athens
Athens has over 3,000 years of historical data, which is why it is known for its mythology. If you wish to take yourself back in time, Athens, one of the most ancient, glorious, hot, busy, and amazing city in Greece is just the place for you. Places you cannot miss to visit in Athens are the Odeon of Herodes Atticus found in Acropolis of Athens (sound theater which can accommodate 5,000 people), Zappeion (building in Natural Gardens of Athens), Plka (for restaurants and boutiques), and many islands.

Berlin
The next stop is Berlin. This city is a wonderful example of getting over a turbulent past after the historic wall was torn down. This capital city of Germany put the wall back together, performing a wonderful job at it too. It is the most sought after tourist location for its rich political and cultural heritage, as it plays a major role in European politics and culture. The Fernsehturm, built in 1969, is the second tallest building in Europe.

Florence
One of the most picturesque and pleasant cities in Europe, Florence was once known as the epicenter of European cultural prosperity. You will find the city bustling with people, shops, cafs, and statues all around. Most popular attractions in Florence are Piazza della Signoria, Piazza San Lorenzo, the Duomo, the Oltrarno district, and the Medici Villas on the outskirts of Florence.

Glasgow
Many of you may not know, but Glasgow was famous for its shipbuilding industry. In today's time, this city is known more as one of Europe's trendiest cities. Glasgow is a city in Scotland which is bursting with culture. With trendy neighborhoods, historical sites, magnificent architecture, galleries, shopping extravaganza and home for sports fanatics (Soccer being their major passion), Glasgow truly promises fun and entertainment.
