Hawaii, a state in the United States, is basically an archipelago. Admitted to the Union in 1959, this state has earned paradoxical epithets as the 'last state to be admitted to the union' and the 'foremost US state for revenue from tourism'. The capital of Hawaii is the mesmerizing Honolulu, located on the Oahu island. All of its 1,283,388 inhabitants are spread over the Hawaiian Island chain that is volcanic in nature, including Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, Maui, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Kaho'olawe and Lna'i. Hawaii is a geographer's delight, being a segment of the Oceanic Polynesian sub-region.

The tropical climate of Hawaii and consistent trade winds are responsible for the tourism boom that the state is currently enjoying. The fact that it is one of the world's youngest geological formations and its unique Aloha spirit, beaches and distinct culture are perfect for a soul-rejuvenating vacation. There are a number of inland locales designed to cater the fancies of adventure or extreme sports enthusiasts. The island is home to Duke Kahanamoku, the 'Father of Modern Surfing', and visual treats such as the Waimea Canyon in Kauai, the tallest sea cliffs in the world, the crater of Haleakala and the Kileaua Volcano - the world's most active volcano.
