How to Generate Travel Leads

Many opportunities for great trips and vacations pass by unnoticed. To take advantage of all of the travel leads out there, you must have several different sources, rather than relying on just one. Use the Internet and social media, as well as more traditional methods and word-of-mouth, to generate and discover the best travel leads.

Instructions

    1

If you do not already have them, create a personalized business card for yourself at your local print store. Include your name and all relevant contact information.

    2

Call or visit your local travel agencies. Leave your contact number or business card with each one, letting them know specifically what type of travel you are interested, such as budget, destination or family travel.

    3

Design a blog or website. A web presence allows people to easily find and contact you with leads online. If you do not know how to design a website, you can set up a free blog with Wordpress or Blogger by following their step-by-step instructions. Find the blogs or websites of other travel agents, travel writers or travelers in general, and reach out to them by commenting on their blogs and lending your own advice when appropriate.

    4

If you have a Facebook or Twitter account, follow and friend travel agents, travel writers and anyone else in the travel industry. By connecting with these people in the business, you'll have quick access to leads as they are updated.

    5

Join an association or organization of travelers that share your interests. Many websites constantly update with the latest travel deals. For example, if you are interested in renting a timeshare, become a member of groups like RCI, which provides special offers just for members. If you are a travel writer interested in finding press trip leads, join a group like TravelWriters to constantly receive press releases and trip information.

    6

Contact and actively seek out travel leads by phone or online every day, and share them through your blog, Facebook, Twitter or any other social networking tool. The travel community is large, and travelers rely on one another for advice and tips. The more travel leads you share travel with others, the more you will get in return.
