How to Accessorize a Wardrobe for Travel

Packing thoughtfully is helpful if you plan on going on vacation. Think ahead and prepare to take only the items that will be absolutely necessary. If possible, pack items that can be used for more than one application so that you can pack less altogether. Plan on utilizing wardrobe accessories that are practical and useful and not just decorative.

Carry a lightweight scarf that can be practical for a number of uses for a woman. Wrap it over the head for protection from the sun, wear it around the neck for a fun look or tie your hair back with it. Get extra creative and make a small purse out of a scarf and two bracelets by laying the scarf flat and pulling one of the corners through one hand to create a tail about one-third the length of the side and then tying a knot. Repeat the same knotting on the remaining three corners of the scarf. Make handles for the purse by tying each of the two tails to the bracelets.

Wear shirts, pants and vests that are designed specifically for traveling. These items of clothing eliminate the need for extra baggage by essentially becoming the baggage themselves by featuring a number of pockets that are not always visible. Shop for these clothing items based on how many items that you plan to carry that you might need quick access to. Plan on carrying items such as cameras and camera accessories, a digital music player with headphones, a water bottle and a cell phone.

Wear a square travel wallet designed to be worn around the neck that sits flat against the chest. These travel wallets eliminate the need for purses and standard wallets that are easy targets for thieves and they are less bulky and cumbersome than fanny packs.

Pack jewelry that can be used for a variety of purposes such as an extra-long gold or silver-colored chain. These chains can be used as long necklaces or wrapped around the neck more than once to create fun multi-strand necklaces. They can also be used as bracelets by wrapping them around wrists. Depending on their length, these chains can also be used as lightweight belts for summer dresses or to add extra flair to a pair of pants in the same manner.
