How to Create a Travel Podcast

For the office workers and students who do not have the luxury of travelling around the world, travel podcasts would be an opportunity to bring the world into other people's homes. With one click of a button, anyone could listen to a report with tips on how to travel to different places, what to expect, and what there is to do. Here's how you would make a travel podcast.

Decide on a focus for your travel podcast. Do you want to approach it like a journalist, and talk about what is important and newsworthy about the place that you're going? Or, do you want to provide more of an informational podcast about where to go, with tips on how to prepare trips?

Organize your episodes, and choose a format. If you are the traveler, you can be the host and organize accordingly. Another option is to set up a show where the host checks up on various correspondents that are travelling around the world. Think about your audience.

Write out and outline and prepare your podcast episode. After that's done, you are ready to record.

Hook up your microphone to the computer and open up a program like Audacity or GarageBand which will record your voice into the computer.

If you want to record live communication with people that are in faraway places, you can easily do that with iChat and GarageBand. Just initiate an audiochat with iChat, and once you guys want to record, just press Record on GarageBand, and it will capture your conversation as you are having it.

Once everything is recorded, convert your recording into an mp3 file, if it doesn't do so automatically.

Open up a podcasting software program so you can edit your podcast and add features. Add chapters so listeners can jump back and forth in between sections if necessary. Add art and background music to contribute to the mood.

After you're done, put the file onto a server, and then you can take the links and publish them onto your webpage.

When you have enough episodes, create an RSS feed for your listeners so they can conveniently subscribe to your podcasts.
