How to Get Copies of Your Travel Orders

Military-issued Travel Orders assign government employees to posts throughout the world. At times, Invitational Travel Orders allow families or significant others to visit wounded soldiers at his or her location. Because Travel Orders are issued by the government and sometimes assign government employees to combat zones or other dangerous areas, making photo copies or distributing your orders to several people is strongly discouraged; however, the government does not deny that circumstances may arise in which your family or someone close to you needs a copy of your orders and thus makes it possible to obtain copies.

Instructions

    1

Contact your unit's Family Readiness Officer or group. You can ask your commanding officer if you do not know who is the Family Readiness Officer.

    2

State the reason that you need copies of your travel orders. If the copies are being made for someone else, the Family Readiness Officer may verify that person's location and identity to send the travel orders documents directly to them.

    3

Provide identification verification, including your name, rank, unit, military branch, social security number and military address.

    4

Provide the address to which the Family Readiness Officer can send the copies of your travel orders.
