How To Travel From London to Spain

You can get to Spain from London in several ways. The most conventional way is by air but if you have the time, taking a train may be more fun and rewarding. Europe has an expansive railway system, and the rail routes are a great way to see the vastly different regions. Taking a ferry and exploring the open waters between the United Kingdom and Spain is also an option.

    Purchase a ticket from Rail Europe for a ride aboard the Eurostar train from London St. Pancras Station to Paris Nord Station. The trip takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes. Transfer in Paris to Austerlitz Station. The Elipsos train will take you to Madrid Chamartin Station or Barcelona Estacio De Franca nonstop. This is an overnight trip. The train features sleeping accommodations. To get to Madrid takes approximately 13 hours and 20 minutes, and 12 hours to Barcelona. Connecting trains in Spain run to destinations such as Seville, Malaga, Granada, Valencia and Alicante.

    Purchase a ticket with any airline that services Spain destinations from London. You can fly to Madrid, Malaga, Ibiza, Barcelona and Gibraltar nonstop. Connecting destinations include Palma, Pamplona, San Sebastian, Asturias, La Coruna, Santiago de Compostela, Vigo and Jerez de la Frontera.

    Purchase a Rail Europe train ticket from London's Kensington Olympia Station to Portsmouth's Harbor Station. The route is serviced by BritRail. From Portsmouth Harbor, cruise with Brittany Ferries aboard the Pont Aven or Cap Finistere to Santander in northern Spain. The ships feature all inclusive suites and dining. You can take cars aboard the ferries. The cruise lasts approximately 18 hours.
