Preschoolers are kids or toddlers studying in preschool, their age ranging from two to five years. Preschool is generally considered important for a toddler's mental development. The age from one to five is considered as the most crucial one, during this age the child learns and absorbs information very fast and kids also express interest and fascination about each and everything. It is important that a preschooler enjoys indoor as well as outdoor activities.

Preschool Outdoor Activities

Here is a list of outdoor activities which also include outdoor activities for toddlers. Many of these activities are recommended by teachers and parents themselves. Also read some fall activities for preschoolers.

Freeze at the Spot: Take the kids to a nearby lawn or your school campus. Select a tall tree which has no low hanging branches, play the music of a fast paced nursery rhyme and ask the kids to jump or dance around the tree. When you turn the music off, every kid has to stop in the exact position they were. When you first stop the music, most of them would make a big deal out of it and laugh on each others funny poses. Laugh and enjoy with them. Freeze at the spot is an ideal outdoor activity for preschoolers. Follow some gross motor activities for toddlers.

Sack Races: Draw a start and a finish line in your nearby lawn or school garden. If you can arrange some burlap bags, good! If not, then small garbage bags can also do. Make sure you collect the bags after you are done with your outdoor activity. Put both your feet in to the bag and hold on to the sides. The winner of the race is the one who finishes the race quickest by hopping. It's also a great sight to see.

Nature Walk: Gather all the kids together and ask them to hold each others hand and not leave it until permitted so. Take them to the country side for a change, make sure that you have at least two more adults to help manage the kids. Make them notice different type of trees, bugs, fruits and colors of different leaves. To make it more interesting make sure that all the kids carry a drawing book and a color pencil, so that can they draw everything that interests them. If they ask you any question and you can't answer them, write it down and after searching it answer them in the class.

Soap and Water: This outdoor activity is one which parents highly recommend and teacher's don't. Personally, I think it's a great idea to teach them something new. In your nearby block, find your neighbors who have cars and ask their permission to wash their car. Now the trick is you will teach preschoolers how to wash a car. Just collect some soap and water from their house and start working on it. Make sure you give them an easy demonstration before letting them touch someone else's car. It's actually a very cute sight, because most of the kids will end up having most of the soap on their head or hands. This is one of the best outdoor activities for preschoolers on summer days.

Obstacle Course: Most teachers face a tough time, to play this activity. I agree that it's a lot of work, but think again, you can have so much fun. Don't give them complicated obstacles or signs, they need simple directions. Tie a colored ribbon around a tree and name it as a starting point, instruct the children to start from there. On the way leave some more colored strings with short messages written in block alphabets, so that they can read and understand, for example "turn right". To make sure, complete the course yourself before letting the children try it out. Expect several tries from the kids, but make the fun part your focus point and you will enjoy a lot. Unlike older kids, preschoolers will be happy to try this obstacle course again and again.

So, these were some outdoor activities for preschoolers that made it to my list. There are many more, the important thing here is, the kids practice it and learn from it and at the same time have fun. If you want to add some more preschool outdoor activities, do leave your valuable comments.
