The following is the vacation packing checklist, i.e, the things that pack for a vacation.
  • Cash and Documents: These are the most essential things to pack for a vacation. • Medicine: It is better to have your own first aid kit with you, when on a vacation. You may not know what situation you may have to come across. It is also advisable to check out the climatic conditions of the place you are heading, in advance. Do not forget to pack the following things: pain killer, band-aids, prescription medicines, anti-diarrhea and sea-sickness pills, mosquito repellents, water purifying tablets, etc.
  • Clothes: There cannot be any specific rule, as to what clothes should be packed for a vacation. It depends entirely on your destination and its climatic conditions. But it is advisable to pack clothes that can be mixed and matched. One must also not forget to pack at least one formal/evening dress, as you may not know when will that come in handy. Do not pack very heavy sports shoes or heels. It is better to pack the type of shoes that are comfortable, as well as are suitable for every outfit.
  • Accessories: These are a few minor things that may seem unimportant, but, they are a must during a vacation. These include water bottles, sunglasses, sunscreen, alarm clock, note book, pen, etc. Toiletries like deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving kit, shampoo, soap, make up kit, scrunchies, etc. should not be forgotten. When you pack for a beach vacation, give first priority to pack the beach related gear.
  • Gadgets: You must take with you only those gadgets that are absolutely essential or the ones you cannot live without, for e.g., a cell phone with charger, laptop/DVD player/iPod with charger, digital camera, binoculars, etc. Do not forget to take batteries and the manual along with you.
  • Food: This will be needed only if you are having a self-drive vacation. Try packing healthy snacks, pretzels, veggies, fruits, sandwiches, popcorn, cookies. If you are taking babies with you, it is better to pack baby food in adequate quantity and carry it with you.
How to Pack for a Vacation
  • First thing to consider before packing for a vacation is to check the size and weight of the luggage, the plane/cruise permits. It is better to carry several medium-sized bags or backpacks rather than a one huge bag, as that can be troublesome if you do not find a porter.
  • The cash and the documents should be packed in the smaller bag, to which you can have an easy access. Also accessories and first aid kit should be packed such that, you find them immediately when you need them.
  • Make a list of all the things that you have packed in your luggage and check them to prevent losing or forgetting things. Do not consider shopping for everyday articles at tourist destinations, as they are quite expensive.
  • Try to keep your luggage as light as possible. Just pack the things for your daily needs. You will definitely need some space to get back your shopping things and souvenirs from the vacation!
Packing for a vacation is not as stressful as it may seem. It just needs some time and proper planning. So the next time, you plan for a vacation, pack and just be ready to enjoy and have fun!
