How to Access Travel Documents

Travel typically requires a series of reservations, confirmations and documents. Many of these documents are in electronic form, while others are still the standard paper. In order to stave off missed reservations or hassles, keep the documents stored for easy access. Certain documents, such as your passport need safeguarding, to ensure smooth and legal travel. By organizing and keeping the documents handy, issues and confusions are bypassed -- for headache free travel.

Instructions

    1

Email out all copies of any electronic reservation numbers, itineraries and confirmations to your own email account. Place them into a single email as attachments, and send. Use these off a smartphone to access the travel documents when on the go should you not travel with a laptop or have a full computer to access.

    2

Write down the airlines, rental agencies and hotels you are using, along with website addresses and confirmation codes. Log onto the companies' websites, when the travel documents are required. Many hotel and spas allow access to your travel information and documents, providing you create an account upon booking. For example, the Holiday Inn chain allows you to create accounts with passwords. Enter the user name and password to access travel documents.

    3

Print out hard copies of all itineraries and reservations and assemble them into a stack. Fold them and store in a journal or dossier for quick access.

    4

Keep your passport in a safe pocket and on your body at all times. Chest holders or deep pockets are best suited for the passport. Scan your passport into your computer, and email a copy to yourself as photo attachments, particularly if you use smartphones with email access. Use this as a tool for replacement should you lose the passport during your travels. The State Department uses photos of the passport to access your information and verify identity.
