How to Clean Travel Trailer Fiberglass

Cleaning your travel trailer is an essential step in getting the most life out of your investment. Dirty buildup on trailers can permanently stain fiberglass surfaces and affect the trailer's resale value. It can also hold moisture next to seams and cracks, letting water to its way underneath and allowing mold and mildew to grow. With the proper washing and waxing schedule, along with regular spot cleaning, you can keep your travel trailer looking and performing like new, year after year.

Instructions

    1

Remove any foreign objects that get on the trailer as soon as you notice them. This includes bird droppings, road tar, bugs and tree sap or pollen. Use a mild detergent or cleaner to wash them away.

    2

Wash the entire trailer at least once a month with soap, water and a soft brush meant for cleaning cars. This will prevent stiff bristles from scratching the finish.

    3

Wax the trailer with an automotive paste wax at least once a year to protect the finish. Follow the manufacturer's application instructions.

    4

Store the trailer in a covered area out of direct sunlight, if possible, to prevent fading.
