Travel can cause headaches for everyone. Knowing how to fold clothes will help to make your traveling less troublesome. You can arrive at your destination and unpack, seeing that your clothes are free of wrinkles, or at least nearly so. You can also fit more clothes into a suitcase when they are properly folded. A neatly packed suitcase of folded clothes helps a traveler find clothes quickly upon arrival.
Instructions
- 1
If you are packing long dresses, put them in the bottom of the suitcase, with the top and bottom hanging over the ends of the suitcase. After you pack the shirts and other clothes, pull the ends over the top of your other clothes. This will help to prevent wrinkles in the dresses.
2Fold socks and underwear in half. Use them as filler in your suitcase if you are short on room. You can also use them between folds to help prevent wrinkles from forming.
3Place slacks and pants flat. Fold the bottoms up to the tops. Insert socks that are folded once between the top and bottom halves of the slacks to help prevent wrinkles.
4Fold skirts in half, from side to side, then once more, folding the bottom up to the top.
5Button up all of the buttons in shirts and tops. Then lay them down on their backs so their sleeves are extended in a manner similar to how they would be extended when worn. Fold each sleeve diagonally over the center front of the shirt. Then fold the bottom third of the shirt up over the sleeves. Fold the top third of the shirts over the bottom third.
6For suits and coats, fold the shoulders back until they are touching. They should now be lying on one side of the front of the suit or coat. Take the sleeves and bring them around so they're resting on the top. Then fold the bottom up to the top and pat down to slightly flatten.
