Travel trailers are available in many styles, sizes and shapes. Some travel trailers have electric slide-outs on the sides to increase the inside area with a touch of a button. A travel trailer's size on the title includes the frame and tongue on the trailer hitch. The actual living space of the trailer needs measuring to order or purchase a protective cover to keep the trailer paint from fading because of exposed sunlight.
Instructions
- 1
Park the travel trailer on level ground. Pull the locking pin out of the crank and raise the crank at a 90-degree angle to the trailer tongue. Release the locking pin. An internal spring will slide the pin into the unlocked position.
2Grasp the crank handle and turn it clockwise to crank the support jack stand down on the trailer. The trailer will rest on the jack stand on the ground.
3Enter the trailer and push the electric slide-out buttons to extend any slide-out sections on the travel trailer to their full width.
4Place the tip of a measuring tape on the front right corner of the living area of the trailer. Stretch the measuring tape to the rear right corner of the trailer to measure the length. The measurement includes any slide-outs or air-conditioning units that protrude on the trailer. Measure the left side length of the trailer in the same manner.
5Place a measuring tape on the front left corner of the trailer and measure the width across to the front right corner at the largest area. Repeat this action to measure the width of the trailer rear.
6Measure the trailer height from the top to the bottom of the living area.
7Order or purchase a travel trailer cover using the largest of the width and length measurements.
