How to Travel to Cuba From Montreal

Cuba can be a popular tropical vacation destination, especially in the cold winter months. Relatively cheap and usually not crowded with tourists, Cuba is easily reached via many major Canadian airports. Montreal is Canada's second-largest city and is a major hub for air travel around the world. It is possible to fly to Havana directly from Montreal's Trudeau Airport, or you can use Montreal as a transfer point from other cities.

Instructions

    1

Decide when you want to travel to Cuba. Winter months tend to be the most popular for travelers from Montreal. Summer travel prices may be cheaper, but you should be careful if traveling during hurricane season of June through November.

    2

Book your flight from Montreal to Cuba. Carriers flying to Cuba from Montreal include Air Canada and Cubana. Prices vary greatly, so use a general travel-booking website as well as airline websites to find the best price.

    3

Pack only those items that are legal to carry. Cuba prohibits tourists from entering with drugs (other than those required for medical reasons), pornography, animals and firearms. Limited quantities of alcohol, tobacco, gifts and medicines are allowed.

    4

Check out the Montreal airport before your departure. The airport has many international flights, so you should make sure you know where you need to go so you're not rushed when arriving.

    5

Make sure you have enough money for your trip. Within Cuba, local currency must generally be used. Traveler's checks and credit cards are also valid, but you should not use those that were issued in the United States. It is possible to exchange Canadian dollars, Euros and British pounds upon arrival in Cuba.
