How to Build Your Own Travel Itinerary

With the introduction of travel websites, building your own travel itinerary has never been easier. From your flight, to your rental car, to your hotel reservations, you can plan an entire vacation on one website. You can even include activities at your destination to your travel itinerary. Doing this allows you to build and book your vacation in one place. Building and booking your vacation itinerary as a package is less expensive than building your itinerary individually.

Instructions

    1

Visit a travel website such as Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity. On the homepage of any travel website you will see an option that allows you to book vacation packages. Choose the options you want to book in your package, such as airline or rental car reservations.

    2

Input your travel dates, times and destinations. Build each aspect of your trip yourself, beginning with your flight. Choose the dates, times and flights that fit your desired itinerary -- including airlines and prices.

    3

View the hotel and air packages provided for you. You can choose based on price, or you can choose based on the specific hotel you want.

    4

Add your rental car based on price or type of rental. Travel websites provide easy-to-follow instructions for choosing your rental car. This allows you to choose any car as long as it fits a specific price range, or to choose a specific car, such as a convertible for your beach vacation.

    5

Add additional activities to your itinerary. Travel websites offer adds on, such as amusement park tickets, museum tickets, play and show tickets, as well as other activities. To choose ones you want, click on the box next to each activity and specify the number of tickets you want.

    6

View your travel itinerary. If you are happy with the itinerary you built, book it. Enter your name, address, contact information, the names and ages of all passengers for whom you purchased airfare, and provide your credit card information. The total cost of your trip, including all aspects of your itinerary is billed to your credit card.

    7

Print your confirmation page for your records.
