How to Redeem Nordstrom Travel Points

Nordstrom Bank, a subsidiary of the Nordstrom Corporation, provides credit and debit cards which earn points for gift certificates, shopping perks and, in the case of the Nordstrom Signature Visa Card, travel points -- enrollment into the travel point program is optional. Every dollar spent at Nordstrom earns one travel point and one reward point, while purchases outside Nordstrom earn one travel point. A benefit of the Nordstrom Signature Visa Card is that travel points can be redeemed for anything from hotels and airline tickets to train travel and rental cars.

Instructions

    1

Understand the travel point reward system. The Nordstrom Visa Signature operates differently than airline mileage reward programs. Instead of paying for tickets with miles, travel points equate to cash deductions. For example, 10,000 travel points equals $100, 50,000 travel points equals $875 and 100,000 travel points equals $1,750. A full reward schedule is stated in the Nordstrom Visa Signature Guide.

    2

Book "qualified travel purchase(s)" using your Nordstrom Siganture Visa. Qualified travel is defined as "airlines train and rail ticket outlets, hotels, car rental companies, cruise lines, travel agencies, and online travel booking services," according to the Nordstrom Visa Signature Guide. Travel points cannot be used for accessories like luggage or meals during your trip. These purchases will be billed in full to your Nordstrom banking account until the travel points are deducted.

    3

Call Nordstrom Bank after the travel purchases have been posted to your account. Information you need when calling is the date of the purchases, name of the travel provider, the type of travel (e.g. accommodation) and purchase amount. Nordstrom Bank will deduct the travel points cash equivalent from your "qualified travel purchases." For example, if you purchase two plane tickets and two nights hotel which equates to $1,000 and had 50,000 travel points the bank would deduct $875. Your final cost for the travel would be $125.
