Air travel couriers once roamed the skies in large numbers, accompanying packages throughout the world at greatly reduced fares. Since the 9/11 attacks in America, the courier business has declined in offers and increased in cost, often equaling the prices of regular airline tickets. Despite the changes, some air travel courier companies still exist and opportunities are still out there to travel the world at a discount as an air travel courier.
Instructions
- 1
Obtain an up-to-date passport. Most courier services require a passport from the U.S. or EU.
2Contact a courier service or courier broker. Let them know where and when you are willing to travel. The more flexible you are, the more opportunities you will have to travel.
3Check the courier price against regular airfare. If it is a deal, reserve the available courier flight over the phone and pay the courier flight rate with a major credit card. You may also need to pay a non-refundable deposit for your return ticket.
4Sign a contract detailing the terms of the arrangement. This can be done in advance or often at the airport prior to departure.
5Dress neatly and show up at the airport early to meet with the courier representative at a pre-determined location prior to your flight. You will likely never touch the cargo, but you will be asked to deliver some paperwork, such as baggage claim forms, to the representative on the other end of the flight. Discuss return flight details with the courier service representative. Have a great flight.
