Give students a way to get excited about an upcoming class trip while providing parents and guardians tangible access to information by making a student travel brochure. When you use Publisher to design your marketing materials, the software's quick-start templates leave you more time for planning and packing. With their single sheet of paper size, student travel brochures won't wreak havoc on your printing budget, but they may drive your recruitment message home better than an electronic message or website post.
Instructions
- 1
Start Publisher. Click the "Brochures" button, the first button under the "Most Popular" section of the screen. Scroll through the templates. There is no student travel brochure template, so just double-click the one with the appearance that suits your requirements or themes and branding. After a few moments, the brochure opens in two separate pages on the Publisher workspace.
2Click through the two page views --- use the page view column on the left side of the workspace. Get a feel for the placeholder pictures and text boxes on the brochure, and how everything is laid out.
3Highlight the placeholder title on the brochure's cover. Type over it with your own, such as "2012 Class Trip to Disney." Type over the additional headlines and subheads in the brochure with topics such as who is eligible to go, the itinerary, requirements (such as vaccinations and passports), qualifications (such as grade point averages or language courses taken), what to pack, fees, what students will learn and how to sign up.
4Highlight the text box under a header and type the related information as a short blurb or article. Fill the brochure with the text. To adjust the text size, such as to fit more wording or to fill white space, highlight the words, click the "Home" tab and adjust the "Font size" menu.
5Highlight and type over the text in a text box, section or panel of the brochure discussing who will be accompanying the students, such as teachers, parent-teacher chaperones or travel coordinators. Include information on how to contact the coordinators if parents are interested in serving as student travel chaperones.
6Click the "Insert" tab. Click the "Picture" button. Browse to a digital copy of the school logo and double-click it. When it appears on the Publisher document, drag it into place, such as on the front cover. Repeat this process to add additional pictures, such as images from the last student trip. Delete any unwanted template pictures by clicking them and pressing the "Delete" or "Backspace" key.
7Highlight the placeholder contact text boxes on the brochure, usually on the backside panel. Type over it with the school information and travel and trip-coordinator details, who parents and interested parties should contact to sign up for the trip or get more information. Include a website, email address, phone number and any other details as desired.
8Read over the brochure or ask a student, teacher or co-worker to proofread the document to look for typos, incorrect dates, misspellings and grammatical errors.
9Click the "File" tab. Click "Save As," type the brochure file name and click the "Save" button.
