Applying wallpaper to a travel trailer is a great way to make it feel like home. It's an ideal customization that creates a space that gives your friends and family a glimpse of your own personal style. Wallpapering in a travel trailer is very similar to wallpapering inside your home. If the current wall covering is in good condition, new wallpaper can be easily applied on top. It is a relatively inexpensive means of transforming your space that even a novice do-it-yourselfer can achieve.
Instructions
- 1
Turn off electricity. Remove all plates around light switches and outlets with a screwdriver.
2Remove the old wall covering if necessary. Sand away leftover adhesive to create a smooth surface. Disregard this step if old wall covering is in good condition.
3Prepare the walls of your travel trailer. Wash the walls with soapy water. Use bleach to scrub away any mold.
4Measure the walls of the trailer to determine how much wallpaper is needed. Purchase wallpaper accordingly.
5Mix up wallpaper adhesive, unless you're using self-sticking wallpaper. Follow the adhesive mixing instructions, and apply to the back of the wallpaper right before hanging.
6Hang wallpaper starting at the top of the travel trailer wall. Use a ladder if necessary. Work out any wrinkles by pulling firmly on the wallpaper and smoothing it with your hand or smoothing brush. Press paper firmly against the wall.
7Hang additional pieces of wallpaper inside your travel trailer until it is fully covered. Match up patterns for a cohesive look. For edges around doors and windows, drape the wallpaper over the opening and cut along the edge using a razor.
8Attach wall plates to outlets and light switches with a screwdriver.
