How to Winterize Coachmen Travel Trailers

Coachmen offers several different models of travel trailers. These trailers are convenient for traveling because you can attach them to the back of your pickup, making it unnecessary to learn how to operate a large, self-powered recreational vehicle. When you own a travel trailer, it's important to understand how to maintain it, including getting it ready for the winter months.

Instructions

    1

Go through your Coachmen travel trailer carefully and remove all food products. This includes refrigerated food and food being stored in a cupboard or bin.

    2

Clean all areas of your travel trailer. Sweep the floors, dust all surfaces, and thoroughly clean the kitchen area.

    3

Turn off the refrigerator and propane tanks. Make sure you leave the doors of the refrigerator and freezer open.

    4

Drain all water from the freshwater tank. Put RV antifreeze in the tank as well as down all drains, including the shower and sink.

    5

Run the faucets and the shower, and flush the toilet until the water turns pink. Then, run hot water in the sinks and shower. This will help the antifreeze move into the hot water tank.

    6

Turn off your pump. Then, take the screen off the water inlet. To let water out and antifreeze in, you'll need to push on the anti-backflow valve.

    7

Turn off all heaters, pumps and tanks, and pull the propane alarm fuse. Remove the smoke detector, and make sure all the lights are turned off before leaving your Coachmen travel trailer.

    8

Close and lock every window in the travel trailer, and close the roof vent. Lock every door before leaving.
